New RFP: Appalachian Power Releases 3 RFPs up to 1GW

New RFP Announced

Highlights

Appalachian Power released three RFPs seeking wind and solar and co-located standalone battery energy storage and hydro resources.

1. Wind, Solar, and Battery energy storage – Purchase:

  • Seeking 800 MW
  • Minimium size:
    • Wind and Solar: 50 MW
    • BESS: 10 MW
  • Interconnected in PJM or APCo distribution system.
  • Commercial Operating Date before December 15th, 2029.
  • Proposals due July 15, 2025

2. Wind, Solar, and Hydro – PPA:

  • Seeking 300 MW
  • Minimium size:
    • Wind: 50 MW
    • Hydro: 10 MW
    • Solar: 5 MW
  • Interconnected in PJM or APCo distribution system.
  • Commercial Operating Date before December 31st, 2029.
  • Proposals due July 15, 2025

3. Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs):

  • Contract terms between 5-30 years.
  • Beginning January 1st, 2028.
  • Proposals due July 15, 2025
